350 Years of the
American Jewish Experience
In September,1654, 23 Jews arrived in the port of New Amsterdam. They had fled Recife, Brazil, when the Spanish took over there. When they got to New Amsterdam, Governor Peter Stuyvesant tried to expel them. He failed.

Only in America explores the progress of American Jews from these 23, to today's community of six million.
